LIGHT RIGID

LIGHT RIGID (LR) licence is classes as:

Any motor vehicle more than 4.5 tonnes GVM but no more than 8 tonnes GVM.
Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM.
Also includes any vehicle with a GVM of no more than 8 tonnes which carries more than 12 adults including the driver.
Also includes vehicles in Class C.

Light Rigid (LR) licence is the next stage up from a car licence. The course is conducted in a mini bus. We have one day course available for this class of licence for people who have experience in driving a manual car.

Aims:: Designed for drivers who wish to develop necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to obtain a Light Rigid driver's licence
Assessment:: Drivers are trained and assessed against the RTA Competency Standards by RTA accredited assessors. After a required standard of competency has been achieved RTA will issue the appropriate licence.
RTA Road Test:: Macquarie Driving School will train the applicant to undertake a RTA driving ability road test.

	Vehicle GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) not more than 8 tonne.
	Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes.
	Buses not more than 30 passengers including the driver.

	Participants must hold a current class C driver's licence.
	Be proficient in the use of a manual transmission.
	Participants must have completed the RTA LR knowledge test and obtained CBA (Competency Based Assessment).
	Learner's Logbook and Guidebook.
	CBA Guide book must have been read before starting the training.
	Appropriate footwear must be worn.

	Road Law.
	Pre-drive check.
	Starting and stopping sequence.
	Loading bay reversing.
	City and highway driving.
	System of vehicle controls.
	Load securing.
	Defensive driving.
	Fuel efficiency.
	Vehicle positioning.
	CBA assessment.
	Turning and handling.
