MEDIUM RIGID

Medium Rigid (MR) is classed as:

Any motor vehicle with two axles and more than 8 tonnes GVM.
Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM.
Also includes vehicles in Class LR.

Medium Rigid (MR) licence is one of the most commonly used licence upgrades. It covers a variety of trucks and buses. The upgrade process is relatively easy mainly because of the gearbox configuration. We offer a one day course for this class of licence for people who have experience in driving a manual car.

Aims:: Designed for drivers who wish to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to obtain Medium Rigid Driver's Licence.
Assessment:: Drivers are trained and assessed against the RTA Competency Standards by RTA accredited assessors. After a required standard of competency has been achieved RTA will issue the appropriate licence.
RTA Road Test:: Macquarie Driving School will train the applicant to undertake a RTA driving ability test.

	Vehicle GVM more than 8 tonne.
	Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonne GVM.
	2 axle rigid truck or bus.

	Participants must hold a current class C or LR driver's licence.
	Be proficient in the use of a manual transmission.
	Participant must have completed the RTA MR knowledge test and obtained CBA Learners Logbook and Guidebook.
	The CBA guidebook must have been read before starting the training.
	Appropriate footwear must be worn.

	Road Law.
	Pre-drive check.
	Starting and stopping sequence.
	Loading bay reversing.
	City and highway driving.
	System of vehicle controls.
	Load securing.
	Defensive driving.
	Fuel efficiency.
	Vehicle positioning.
	Turning and handling.
	CBA assessment.
